What people are saying about Happy Life -Counselling

"I regained my self worth and acceptance of the loss of my sibling from taking part in Happy Life counselling. I also regained my quality of life with confidence to continue this positive outlook from here onwards". Sam, Melbourne

"I was initially reluctant to go to counselling, but this has totally changed my perception of how it can really change your life and perspective. I would certainly recommend this service to other people" Jane, Melbourne

Myths about counselling therapy

  • I don't need a therapist. I can just talk to my friends or family. While it is important to have the support of friends and family, it can be difficult for them to be objective in their advice as they are too emotionally close to you. Therapists on the other hand are trained in how to be objective, find the root of your problems and guide you to a solution.
  • Therapy is only for mentally ill people who can't handle their problems. I should be able to manage this myself. Therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to understand that we all need support and guidance from time to time. Therapy helps you  learn tools and techniques to improve your happiness, self confidence and general quality of life.

Relationships

Break-ups are never easy, even if you're the one who ended the relationship. Often you're left feeling lonely, guilty, sad, angry, hurt, untrusting and at time even worthless.

When you're left with baggage from a previous relationship it's important to seek help so that you can start fresh with your next relationship and ensure that it's not affected by the negative experiences in your past.

grief greig

Grief and Loss

Grief and loss can be experienced when someone you know or care about passes away of leaves you. Most people pass through the first few stages of grief quite quickly but it's then quite common for those who do not seek support to be left 'stuck' in the final stages of grief. It's necessary to have support to help you get through grief and in particular to speak to a professional when the grief is impacting on your life. One of the common consequences of grief is low self esteem, so seeking counselling support will not only help move you passed grief, but will help you to regain control over your emotions and life in general.

Singles looking for that perfect partner

When you're single you can feel very frustrated and depressed about the fact that you haven't yet met your perfect mate.

One of the first things we do in therapy is discuss your dating behaviour and approach. We find out what's currently working and give you tools and techniques to enhance the areas that need improvement to increase your relationship success rate.

Mums and Mums-to-be

Being a mother is very rewarding but can also be very challenging at times. As a mum you can often feel like you're juggling a million roles at the same time and never succeeding 100% at any of them. Feeling tired, on edge, insecure, guilty, anxious and stressed can place a significant strain on your health and the health of your relationships with you partner, friends, family and child/ren. Happy Life counselling offers mothers the opportunity to bring their children to therapy sessions with them, or to take advantage of our Skype telephone counselling sessions so they can place the call on speaker phone and attend to their children throughout the session as need be in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

lost

Feeling lost

In this day and age it's often difficult to figure out what will truly bring you happiness and fulfillment.

In Happy Life counselling sessions we help you to find out where you'd like to be right now and in the future. Then we guide you through pathways to make your dreams a reality.

Choosing the right career path

Research tells us that approximately 70% of people are unhappy in their current jobs. This is a very telling statistic considering that work places more and more demands on your time and energy.

In career counselling we work on various aspects of your career including looking at what motivates and drives you and how this impacts on your career choices.

Frequently Asked Questions about Counselling

What is the difference between life coaching and counselling?

Counseling deals with a variety of issues, such as past events and how they relate to your thoughts and feelings in the present. Counselling provides you with the opportunity to talk things over and make sense of your feelings.  Counselling offers you encouragement and support. A wide variety of techniques may be used including verbal communication. Counselling assists you to focus on constructive behaviours which will help you resolve conflicts and reach specific positive goals.

Life Coaching focuses on the present and future and is oriented towards the client setting goals so as to move forward. Life coaches use multiple methods that will help you with the process of setting and reaching goals. Coaching is not targeted at psychological illness.
